The eleventh annual Future
Earner, of America Banquet
w u held Tuesday, April 19
at 7:00 In the Eagle Point Gra­
de School gymnasium. The
Eagle Point chapter always
holds this function as a part of
their club activities. A pre­
lude of organ music was played
by Nathan Rutherford to open
up the evenings ceremonies.
The Invocation was given by
Ray Young and then the dinner
began, served by the Girls
Athletic Association.
After dinner the Introduction
of guests took place. Jim Jen­
sen Introduced the parents,
Bob Armltage the school board,
W ally Vaughn the advisory
board, George Lanning the
honorary members, and
Darrell Dowell the visiting
FFA delegates and advisors.
The FFA awards were given
to the outstanding boys In
each category. The FFA
Greenhand award to the out­
standing freshman was given
to Nathan Rutherford. Farm
Mechanics to Dwayne Hawk­
ins, Crops to Bryan Dowell,
F arm Electricity to Bob A rm ­
ltage, Public Speaking to
Darrell Dowell, Soli and
Water Management to Jary
Hansen and Chapter Star
Farmer to Jim Jensen.
Jim Jensen then Introduced
the guest speaker for the eve­
ning, the Oregon Association
V ic e - President and former
State Public Speaking winner,
Ken Doud.
The FFA banquet then drew
to a close with the Installation
of the new officers for the
1966-67 year. Bob Armltage,
President; Vice-President,
George Lanning; ¡secretary, __
W ally Vaughn; Treasurer,
Ron Young; Reporter, Nathar,
Rutherford and Sentinel, Jim

Football and basketball
season are too long; state
athletic tournaments should
be dropped; seasons for track,
tennis, golf and other Individ-

School District Board of

budget w ill be May 2 from
2 to 8 p. m . Voting precincts
w ill be In the Eagle Point
High School, at E lk -T ra il
Grade School, and at Shady
Cove Grade School. A Board
of Directors w ill also be
elected at the annual school
meeting May 2 . hfr. Elmer
Hamish Is seeking re-election
and hfr. Lloyd Dodenhoff Is
also running for the position.
