a check list The calendar lists
dates on which various tax and
information returns ar J pay
ments are due and explains
each tax deadline briefly.
The check list shows at a
glance what taxes the small
businessman may be liable for,
where detailed information on
each may be located in the
guide, and what forms are need
ed to prepare returns.
The guide explains Federal
tax aspects of buying, starting
and operating a business, and
selling or otherwise disposing
of a business. It covers the ap
plications of Federal tax laws
to sole proprietorships, partner
ships and corporations, and spe
cial tax problems of manufac
turers, retailers, professional
men, and other types of busi
nessmen.
The tax rules on deductions
and record keeping for business
entertainment, travel and gift
expenses are fully explained.
Other important subjects cov
ered include accounting periods
and methods; inventories; de
preciation; investment credit
for purchase of machinery and
equipment; Social Security and
income withholding taxes, and
the self-employment tax.
