Mr. De Arinond and wife of Table Rock came to town one day last week with some very fine bacon, which he sold to Faber’s store. Mr. Vincent and wife of Table Rock came to town one day last week to de liver some fine wood which Mr. Vincent is selling. 5-cent toilet soaps will soon be off the m arket on account of advancing prices. Harmony, Bath and Goblin still 5c at Paxson’s. Mr. Earnest left for Klamath Falls Sunday, where he goes to accept a good position in a city m eat m arket. While we are sorry to lose Mr. Earnest, we are glad to hear of his good fortune. His family will remain here for the present. Mrs. Wilson of Cottage Grove is here visiting her daughter, Mrs. Earnest. Mr. Pankey and wife, of Klamath county, have been visiting at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Guy Tex, for the past week. Grim is not improving very fast and his many friends are very sorry to learn of his continued incap acity. * * * ** 5 * * : Mrs. E. E. Scott of Medford has invited the Ladies Aid of the local Methodist church to meet at her home next Wednesday afternoon, June 27. All mem bers and friends are cordially invited. Look out for fires this dry weather. If a lighted match is thrown in the dry grass now, especially when there is a strong breeze blowing, you might cause the loss of thousands of dollars worth of property. The Ashland Chautauqua is coming in July. Also the Rogue River Round up at the same place. How many people coming here look ing for a new location would stop, if Central Point had no paper? W. C. Leever, the hardw are dealer, has just installed a new gasoline filling sta'ion in front of his store. Mrs. Cummins, whe has been quite ill for some time, is reported to be quite low. Six thousand dollars in Liberty Bonds were subscribed in Central Point by 41 people. That is a good showing for our community. Miss Lurfine Brown, representing the Ellison-White Chautauqua Circuit, was in our city Tuesday to see if interest could be aroused to put on a “ fall Chautauqua” here this year. She did not meet with very much encour agem ent, however, as there are so many demands now being made for money. If it had come at any other time, no *doubt, she could have suc ceeded in getting the citizens of this city interested. A Chautauqua for Central Point coming in the fall ought to be a success in normal times and would be a fine thing for the town and surrounding sections. W hat would this community be w ith out a news paper? Mr and Mrs. George J. Treesh, who recently moved to our city from Mill City, have opened their new Cleaning and Pressing Parlors in the budding across from the Presbyterian church. We are clad that we now have a clean ing and pressing establishm ent in our own city and believe that many of our Central Point boosters will give this new “ home industry” at least a trial.
