    . Willow Springs Items
Mrs. Casper and son George have re
turned to their home in Monroe, Ore.,
after spending several weeks with rela­
tives in this community. Mrs. Casper
is a niece to Mr. J. Slagle.
Mrs. W. A. Thompson and baby
daughter have returned home from the
Dow Hospital.
Mr. S. J. Miner left Tnesda.v morn­
ing for his home in Kansas. He spent
several months here.
Mr. Andrew Briner and wife visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Slagle on Sunday.
Mrs. E. O. Gregory and daughter of
Chicago, after spending the last ten
days with Mrs. D. W. Stone, have
started on their way home.
Mrs.
Gregory and Mrs. Stone are cousins.
Mr. O. S. Blackford has installed an
electric motor to pump water and run
the milking apparatus.
The Good Roads meeting at the school
house, Saturday night, was not well
attended. The following people ad­
dressed the audience: J. A. Wester-
lund, Mrs. C. L. Schiefflein, Mr. Leevcr
o f Central Point, Mr. Stone of Willow
Springs and G. A. Lovegren. After
the meeting coffee and cookies were
served to all present and an enjoyable
hour was spent.
Willow Spaings Parent-Teachers Club
will meet Saturday June 2nd, at 2:30
P. M. at the home of Mrs. Geo. Davis.
A number of Willow Springs men
folks intend to take in the demonstra­
tion o f fertilizers on alfalfa fields Tues­
day afternoon.
Mr. D. M. Grifham and daughter
Lola, o f Sweetwater, Ore., and father
and sister to Mrs. Roy Nichols and
Mrs. Earl Heft, arrived Tuesday morn­
ing to spend some time here.
Fred Straube has purchased a new
automobile.
Result of Y . M. C . A. Campaign
Up to May 24, $49,152 had been
subscribed or paid toward the
Army and Navy Y. M. C. A. work
as a result of the recent campaig.
These figures are for Oregon and
Idaho.
Shoshone, Idaho, makes the
largest showing per capita. With
a ptfpulation of only 1500 people
$1500 was raised. Portland sub­
scribed $17,683; Medford $600;
Central Point $300;

Springs $80; Eagle Point $70.
Y. M. C. A. buildings are being
built at all of the 13 Officers Re­
serve Camps.

Governor Withycombe has issued a
Proclamation for June 3rd. as Prison
Sunday, and has asked every church to
observe that day; especially calling at­
tention to the needs o f the Oregon Pen­
itentiary an9 for its more adequate ac
comodations.
