USE EARLY What a Holstein Cow Does in One Year Holstein cows hold all records for milk and butterfat produc tion. The six highest records for one year’ s production o f milk are held by pure-bred Holstein cows as follows : Lutscke Vale Cornu copia. 31.246 9 pounds or 14,533 quarts; Winnie Korndvke Cornu copia De Kol, 31,034.2 pounds or 14.435 quarts; Tilly Alcartra. 30.- 451.4 pounds or 14.163 quarts; Queen Piebe Mercedes, 30.230.2 pounds or 14.061 quarts; Roval ton De Kol Violet. 29 949.6 lbs. nr 13.930 quart«; and Lilith Pie be De Kol, 29 599.4 pounds or 13.767 quarts. No cow o f any other breed has ever produced within many thousands o f pounds as much milk as have these cows, and, while they are the largest milk producers o f the breed, the Holstein-Friesian Advanced Reg- istrv shows 320 other Holstein cows producing over 20,000 lbs. o f milk in one year. The world’s record for one year’s butterfat production is held by the registered pure-bred Holstein-Friesian c o w Duchess Skylark Ormsby. Her figures for 365 consecutive days are 27,- 761 pounds o f milk containing 1205 pounds o f butterfat, equiv alent. on the 80 per cent basis, to 1500 pounds o f butter. The breed has 67 cows that have pro duced above 850 pounds o f but terfat in one year, which is over twice as many as can be shown by all other breeds combined. O f course these records mention ed stand highest; but to be con vinced that the average produc tion, both o f milk and fat, o f Holstein-Friesian cows is very large, it is only necessary to study the following table, which gives the averages for all Hol stein-Friesian cows, over 3.000 in number, that have been tested in long-time test: No. Full Aged Cows. . . .1150 .232 Senior Fours Junior Fours........ . 286 Senior Threes........
