One of the principal sub jects to be discussed ut this conference is the church of the open country. Many church leaders feel Omt the fa r m ers do not have as good opportunities for attending church as the people in the towns. There is a grow ing feeling th a t our largest ministers are in our cities and hence are out of sympathy with the farmer and his religious life. Because of the fact th a t our churches are built mostly in our towns, in some communities the farm ers do not attend church us regularly as the city people. To get accurate information regard ing the church relations of our farinera several surveys or canvases are being taken. There will be four men working in this section on Thursdav, Friday and Saturday. They will visit each farme r and talk to him about the church situa- t on. They will ask about the church with which he is affiliated or to which he belongs. They will also ask numer ous other questions. All information given will be strictly confidential. In no instance will any names he used. Because of this th ere need be no hesi tancy about giving the information de sired. The conference a t Eugene is interde nominational, all churches cooperating, and a f t e r the survey is completed around Central Point the facts will be given to the ministers of each denomi nation. The entire plan is in the in ter est of the farmer. T hree of the four men working on the survey have been raised on the farm and their in terest and sympathies are with the farmers. The four men belong to three different denominations. There names are J . A. McAfee, W. L. Tucker, R. A. Felton and Rev. R. A. Basham of this city. Land Products Show New Assured It has been definitely decided th a t the commercial, industrial and development organizations of Oregon will hold a big Industrial and Products show in P o rt land from October 26 to N ovember II, and the Armory, to g eth er with one nr more tem porary structures, has been s-leeted as the site. Mr. Louis Buckley formerly of the Alaska-Youkon-Paeilie Exposition has been selected to manage the big show. About 80,000 square feet of space will be utilized and this will bo nearly equally divided between soil p r o ducts and products of the workshop. About 12,000 square feet will be used to show municipal and educational work. I t is expected th a t the best showing of apples and other fr u it ever made in Or* - gun will be found a t this show. The transportation companies have taken an active in terest in it and practical coop eration will be rendered by the Portland Commercial Club, Portland Chamber of Commerce, the Portland Ail Club, the R etailers’ Association, the Rotary Club and by the press of Portland and the s t a te a t large. The premium list for this land show, which will be issued in about ten davi, will provide for about $20,(MM) in cm-h and special prizes.
