install a well system, was also discussed
infurmally, Mr. Stoddard stating that
his company would supply power at the
rate of $5.00 per month per H. P. tor
10 hours’ pumping. He estimated that
it would require a 25 horse-power motor
to pump sufficient water for the present
needs o f the town, which would cost
approximately $125.00 per month. He
suggested, however, that a meter sys
tem would no doubt prove much cheaper
than the flat rate.
Mr. Stoddard assured the committee
that if the matter should be taken up
by the town and acted upon favorably
the company would bind themselves to
deliver water in the town within six
months.
The meeting was purely iuformal,
meant only as a first step towards the
full consideration of the water problem.
The water committee expects to socn
have a complete report on a water sys
tem from a competent engineer and
until that is in the hands o f the com
mittee no actual recommendations can
properly be made.
