upon that new state are demanding a
similar law so that the border banks
will not lose deposits to the Oklahoma
bunks. Were there such a law, neither
tlie state, thc bank, the fund itself or
other banks in the state, nor general
business in the community, would be
•harmed in any manner. It is the be
lief that the hank will pay out; it could
do that as well under a guarantee fund
as it can without it. In fact, every one
knows that it could do so much sooner.
Will the political parties o f this state
have the sagacity to declare for a law
giving this assurance to business inter
ests o f the state? Such a law would
not prevent a panic, nor would it cure
all currency and banking ills, hut it
would restore confidence in deposits and
thus prevent money from being placed
in hiding.
