CENTRAL POINT HERALD, TH URSDAY, DECEMBER 20, iy06, We are Cdught the Wrong Wan. i A s t o r y comes from just over the S ta te line in Oregon which, as near as we can report, is something as follows: A woman who suspected that her h u sb a n d was altogether too familiar with the rosy-cheeked, buxom hired girl resolved to detect him in the act, mnd one evening, seeing him pass quietly into the kitchen, the jeal .us d a m e took a few matches in her hand, threw a shawl over her head, as the servant often did, and went around the house and entered the back door. Im mediately she was seized in the dark ness and violently embraced and sa luted with ardent kisses. She allowed the thing to go on until she thought j the psychological moment for unmask ing the villian had arrived, and, tearing ! herself from the encircling arms, struck a match and was horrified to find her self face to face with the hired man.— Anatone Times. •«• m - h - s , :- h - ¡ - h - w - h - h - v H - h -3 that we can help yîîï* in the selection o f that • h - h - k s ± pE JO LV E D THAT\WE s THOULD QU/T W e : S i l l y p r a c t ic e c t g iv in q i m h l z x Christmas Present. , PRESENTS AND GIVE OUR FfflENDS $ SOMETHIN'S THEY CAN U 5 £ > It wil pay you to give us a chance to D M A N Y N IC E USffULTHlNGS LIKE GLOVES,HANDKERCHIEFS NECK WEAK AND THE LIKE- WE h a v e all t h e T h in g 5 yoo Try. ■ V/EAR-T 4 BUSTER Fansher & Fansher, WHAT'S R oss B uildin g, L o w e r P in e Street, worth doing is worth doing well. The fire was discovered by a boy, who re ported the matter to County Superin tendent Daily, who promptly turned in a fire alarm. The fire laddies got to N the front in double quick time, but the flames had so far progressed in their work o f destruction that nothing could be done towards saving either building or contents. The loss, including building, furni ture, library, piano, apparatus and pupils’ books, is estimated at $15,000, ! $10,000 o f which (on the building) is ! covered by insurance. The town hall, churches and other available buildings in the town have been placed at the disposal o f the board and school was resumed in these tem porary quarters Monday morning. Some two years ago a frame school building on the same site as the late structure was destroyed by fire, of supposed incendiary origin, but the recent fire is supposed to have origi nated from a defective furnace in the basement o f the building.
