The funeral of Mrs. E m elin * E. W hite
occurred here ia«t Sunday afternoon at
1:30. A la rte audience attended the ser­
mon preached by Rev. Holladay at the
M. E. Church and a procession ol rep«
resentalive citisens followed the bier to
the Wasco cemetery where the remain«
weie laid to their last rest. Mrs. W hite,
or as her many friends are wont to call
her, Mother W hite, was well ami most
favorably kno*>n here, «he being the
wife of Father W ni(e, one of the whole«
I war led pastors who served ^he Wa«ro
Methodist Church

T h e s p irit ol Mrs. W hite passed awav
at Spoltnue,
Washington, and the
uodv was b ro u g h t here lor interment
beside that of her respected husband.
T h e follow ing sk e tc h of her life, from
friends in Spokane, *a s handed us for
publication.
Em etine E . Reeder was born ill Green
county, Illinois, October 12, 1831, was
married to George II . W h ite, April 1847,
To this I ’nion »as born rim clnldred, two
of which, with her husband, precede«!
her to the other shore. In early life she
liecame a Christian and lived a comas*
tent m em b er ever since
Her life ha*
been an example of patience ami kind«
tics» and those who knew her l*est loved
her most.
In the fall of 1871 she ami her fam ily
came from Iowa and settled in the then
Washiutou T erritory, and one year ago,
came to Spokane to make her home with
her daughter, Mrs. Kate I., ( arsan,
where on dune 14, she passed over to lw
with others who pr evened her.
A brief
service, conducted by an old time friend.
Rev. M . R. Krown of the Union Park .M.
E. Church, was held at the home
The children living are Morris White,'
of W alla W alla. W n ., Alice E. Fleck. of
The D alle*. Greg., George I.. W h ile,
Hoover, Missouri, ami Kate I.. Carsao of
Spokane. There are also sixteen grand
children and several great grand chil
