Boycott Against Japanese and British
Extended by Cantonese.
^Liverpool, Eng.—The Shanghai cor
respondent of the Liverpool Post says
the boycott declared by the Canton
ese government against British and
Japanese shippers has been extended
to include American goods.
The Cantonese government has of*
ficially notified American firms and
steamship lines having offices in
Shanghai that all American merchan
dise intended for Canton must be land
ed 'at Shanghai and reahlpped in Rus
sian or Chinese boats.
The reason given for the boycott is
that quantities of British and Japan
ese goods have been smuggled to Can
ton under American labels. Under the
pew system, the merchandise will be
examined when landed In Shanghai
for reshlpment.
