Announcement was made at Albany
by the Linn county court that the two i
bridges crossing the Santiam river at
Cascadia and Canyon creek on the
Santiam road had been tom out and
the road closed.
Royal Anne cherries have begun to
arrive at the cannery of the Eugene
Fruit Growers’ association, and while
I the crop is not heavy this summer, it
is expected that there will be quite a
long run on this fruity
The biggest shipment of shad roe
ever received at Astoria came in on
the gasoline schooner Roamer from
the Anderson Fish company plant at
Reedsport. The shipment consisted
of 15W cases and was insured for
347,500.
Fire, thought to have been caused
by spontaneous combustion in new
hay, destroyed the apple packing
house, barn, harvest equipment, a mo
tor truck and automobile on the Dee
ranch place of A. L. Stephens in the
Hood River valley. The damage was
I estimated at |15,000.
