When the Dodobird and the Dinosaur
Roamed their native woods in the days of yoro.
When the Askstoon left his Cave to win
The heart of his Chigaree and drag her in—
I say, many years before modern days
Luck worked in mysterious, subtle ways;
But a Gink too rich, as "od-j, was then
Annoyed by inquisitive Fellow-men.
Now the Askstoon and the Chigaree.
Had a wonderful well that was full of Tea,
And, going for Tea, one day they found
Tea leaves and trouble scattered aiound
Where the Greedy Snill had tacked up a sign :
"KEEP OFF THE DOME! THIS TEAPOT’S MINE!”
They yelled for assistance, and shrieked until
Their neighbors came running to Teapot Hill.
