Sixty six young people of Moro and vicinity were entertained at a lawn party given by the Y P B of Moro Saturday evening, July 9th at the home of N P Hansen. The lawn was beautifully decorated for the occasion,-Japanese lanterns, with the help of a quarter moon, furnishing light. The evening was perfect after a hot sultry day, and time went rapidly by with games of all kinds." The Hulse orchestra with Miss Ina Hansen as pianist entertained the guests with melod ious strains of music which sound ed beautiful in the balmy, evening air. Mesdames Umberger and W heat and the Misses Gilbert and Webb rendered the song The Old Oaken Bucket, after which all were invited to partake of iced lemon ade from the old paken bucket which hung in the well by the side of the lawn. Mrs.Hicks, of Waseo delivered an interesting address, telling the history and purpose of the Y P B. Last, but not least, were the refreshnients, consisting of home made ice cream and cake after which the young people gat hered around the piano and sang patriotic songs, ending with three cheers for the Y P B; all leaving declared the occasion to he a very enjoyable one. The flour is merely cotton seed meal with the hulls all removed. While many per sons claim that they really liked the bread, ginger snaps, and bis cuits, etc., which were offered as samples, it must be remembered that cotton seed contains but little starchy matter, and if it is ever adapted to human food it must be as a substitute for meat, rather than bread. One meeting has already been held and the people are consider ing it seriously. It is said such a project will drain a territory cover ing 10,000 acres of marsh land, now practically- worthless. The first auto in the regular Crater Lake stage service left Med ford for the lake last week. Regu lar trips are to be run during the season, leaving Mondays, W ed nesdays and Fridays. The ma chines will leave each day,later in the season if business is such as to justify it. The Crater Lake com pany has issued a neat pamphlet giving complete information as to the trip for the benefit of the tour ists, free for the asking. A report from Coos county says that large numbers of cats, once domesticated, are running wild in the woods, killing birds' and de stroying nests to such an extent that birds will be scarce unless som ething is done to check the destruction. 'Hie payment of a bounty is advocated, but if those cats retain all <>| the nine lives with which they are credited in civilization, either the bounty would of necessity be small or it would be lim ited to one life per cat.
