hens certainly did well, during the
month of January, and you ask if
any bunch of hens in the county
can beat the record ? I believe
mine can.
I have 12 Rhode Island Red
hens; 18 R 1 R and P R mixed; 8
young pullets (don’t know what
they are); total 38. During Janu
ary we got 18 X dozen eggs. The
smallest number brought in any
one day was 2, then 3, 4, etc. I
note that on the 29th we got 14,
(the same number you did); 30th
12; 31st 18.
All we fed them was wheat twice
a day; once a day during the cold
est weather we gave them a warm
drink, and a warm mash of scraps
and potatoes, with a little salt,
adding a little cayenne pepper
about twice a week; burned bone,
just as we happened to have it.
Now, is there a bunch of hens
in the county that can beat this
record?
