and further that his oath of office
as circuit judge prevents his accept

fortune as there is no doubt that
the judge would have made an ex-
^ragllent mayor,with his legal knowl
edge and other accessories, he was
the man needed, but he has de
clined for the reasons above men
tioned, and that ends the matter.

of melted feutter, a pinch of salt,
a little nutmeg, and a pinch each o
cinnamon and ginger. Take one
quart of sifted flour, an even quart,
in which ia sifted well three tea
spoonfuls of baking powder; stir the
flour a little at a time in the hatter,
heating thoroughly. Hprinkle the
molding hoard with flour, and turn
out one-half of the mixture; roll out
and cut with a doughnut cutter. Il
