Robert J a m es Befehee was born
in V irgin ia, J u n e 1st, 1815, and
lived there u n til 1855, when he came
to W arsaw , H ancock co u n ty , Ills.
He removed from there to th e W il­
la m ette v a lley , Oregon, in 1878, re­
m a in in g there six yeara, cou ii' g to
W asco co u n ty , now Sherman co u n ty ,
in 1884. H e was m arried in 1844
to E lean or S m ith . Of th is u n ion
three children are now liv in g : Mrs
C L G ilbert, C levelan d , O hio; Chas
II B elshee, W o o d la n d , C ali *orni ;
and Joseph F B elsh ee of W asco,
Sherm an co u n ty . Other ch ild ren
died in ch ild h o o d . H is wife died in
the faith of the Saviou r iu 1875, in
H an cock co u n ty , Illin ois. H e has
m ade h is hom e w ith h is son J F
B elshee, -and h is wife Mrs E m m a
B elshee, for the past 32 years, w ith
s lig h t in term issio n , where he has
been m inistered to by lovin g b an d s
H e w as g loriou sly converted, and
joined the M E C hurch over 40
y ea rs ago, uw ukening-his fa m ily on
th e n ig h t o t h is conversion w ith
sh o u ts o prait-e, tell ng th em of h is
new found S aviou r. H e lived a tri­
u m p h a n t Christian life, th a t d ev el­
oped in to a rich, ripe and m ellow
experience, and sw eetly cam e to old
i»ge rich in grace. H e loved his
bible, and fed upon the wotd oi God.
