I wag sitting In a room In a London
hotel when M r. Thomas entered.
M r. Thornaa was a man of forty and
well dressed. He was plain of face,
hut he looked houest He had a Glad­
stone bag In his hand, and he carried
this over to the wardrobe and then re­
turned und sat down near me and cut

the weed alight I queried:
