SENATOR C. W. FULTON.
OTHER LIES REFUTED.
whom I have known for many years
in fact since I first began the study
of law myself, I want to say that
any person who judges him to be
one who would be the tool of any
person whomsoever is absolutely
mistaken. I know Judge Littlefield
is not that kind of a man. So far
as the trial of the case is conoerned
the instructions and rulings of the
court were along the lines of the
ru ings of Judge Bradshaw aUthe
previous trial. It .is a well known
fact that lawyers honestly disagree
as to many questions presented to
to the court in the trial of a cs
and it is aleo a well known fact that
the oldest cirouit judges of our st$te
have been reversed by the supreme
court of the state of Oregon, as the
records of that court will show.
Judge Littlefield’s rulings in the
Thompson trial were certainly such
that no one has a right to aay bat
that he was aiming to give both the
state and the defense an absolutely
square deal. I regret that anything
has been said in connection with
the political controversy existing
in Gilliam county that could so se
riously reflect upon the integrity of
a man I know to be honorable in
all respects and who is occupying
the honorab!e position of-judge of
the circuit court of your cRstriot.
Such attacks are vicious in their
intention and effect; and in this in
stance the attack is absolutely with
out any foundation. It is due to
Judge Littlefield, and to the people
of your county, that retraction be
made by the Globe, in so far as the
article reflects upon the integrity of
your circuit court.
-Yours very truly,
