AN O R D IN A N C E entitled an Ordinance
to pro.ect the public health and safetv
and prevent the spread o f dangerous,
contageous or infectious disease, and
to provide tor a board o f health, and
the prevention and rem oval o f all pub

where it may be seen by persons on
the street near the said premises, and
in case the owner or occupant of such
house, store, building or tenement
shall fail or neglect to place such flag
as aforesaid, it is hereby made the
duty of the marshal, as soon as he is
informed of the existence of such dis­
ease, in any house, store, building or
tenement, to cause such flag to lie
placed as aforesaid; and such flag,
whether placed as aforesaid by such
owner or occupant or by the marshal
shall remain there until such person or
personshaving such disease shall ha<e
so far recovered that no danger by-
infection shall remain; and any per­
son having neglected or failed to com­
ply with the provisions of this section
shall, upon conviction thereof before
the recorder’s court, be fined not less
than five dollars nor more than one
hundred dollars and costs.
S ec . 7. No person having any con­
tagious disease shall go out in public
or pass from house to house, or build­
ing to building, or appear in any
stieet, alley, or other public place in
said city, until he or they shall have
so far recovered lrorn such disease as
to preclude all danger of infection.
And if the marshal shall see or be in­
formed of any person violating this
section, it shall be his duty to cause
such person to be taken forthwith to
his or their place of residence, if with­
in the city, and if such residence is
not within the city, then to such place
as the may or may direct. Any per­
son violating any of the provisions of
this section, shall upon conviction
thereof in the recorder’s court, be fin­
ed not less than five nor more than
one hundred dollars and costs.
S ec . 8. The occupant of any house
store, building or tenement in the
city, wherein any person may have
been sick of any infectious or conta­
gious disease, shall on the death or
recovery of such person from such
disease, forthwith destroy by burning
or bury ing the clothes worn by such
person or persons during such
sickness, and shall cleanse, purify
and fumigate the room and house,
store, tenement or building in which
such sick person was confined. And
any person who shall neglect or re­
fuse to comply- with the provisions of
this section shall, upon conviction
thereof, before the recorder's court,
be fined not less than five, nor more
than one hundred dollars and costs.

struct, permit or suffer any reservoir,
pond, acqueduct, water-pipe, fountain
plug, sewer or drain, or other recep­
tacle or conveyance for water or
slops, so to exist on his or her prem­

any such manner so as that such wa­
ter or slops shall stand in pools on
their premises, or flood the streets or
alleys with impure water, or slops
