Den­ mark, 7 years old, was killed bv a trolley-car at Iroop and F'ght enth streets, this afternoon. Fred Bernier motorinan. was threatened with lynch­ ing, for killin g the boy, and was with great difficulty rescued from the mob of Bohemians, who. incensed at the terrible accident, surrounded the car aud dragged Bernier from the p la t­ form, determined to hang him. Patrick Hanley, the comluctor, managed to save Bernier from the mob, aud then a riot call was sent to the M axwell street station. The police took charge of the motorman and conductor and locked them up. After the b .y had been killed. Clara, aged 19 years, the transcontinental pedestrians, com­ pleted the journey from Spokane to this city at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. They left the Western city May 6, on a wager w ith a New Y’ork woman that they oould cross the oontinent in lees than seven months. The conditions of the wager were that each woman waa to leave town with only <5 and earn their livin g en route. If any sickness befell either, the tim e con­ sumed by it was to be abstracted from the total time. On the way across the oontinent they did housework, sewing, and sold photographs of themselves.
