to the levying of the district tax
will he a little surprised, we are
sure, at the differences between
them . Management of school af­
fairs varies and some districts
get into habits of spending while
others are caieful.

The purpose of the eiection is to
subm it to the legal voters of the
ru ral school district the question
of increasing the tax levy for the
fiscal year beginning July 1, 1959,
over the am ount lim ited by Sec­
tion 11. Article XI of the Consti­
tution
The reasons for increasing
such levy are: The Base of the
Sherm an C ounty Rural School
D istrict is not large enough to
meet the cost of the “Estim ated
Ixxal Tax bevies for Operational
punposes. (Tax offset to the Sher­
man County Elem entary School
Districts and the Sherm an County
High School District), for the
1959-69 School Year; computed
according to the formula prescrib­
ed by law.
The am ount of tax, in excess of
the six per cent lim itation pro­
posed to be levied by the ru ral
school d istrict of Sherm an Coun­
ty, Oregon, for the fiscal year be­
ginning July 1, 1959,'is $74,419.96.
