for a price structure for wheat
that will return a profit to the
producer of our most important
cereal food. The loan method is
simple and satisfactory.

grower in a natural wheot dis
trict such as the northwest, would
be better off If the government
would put its subsidy on some of
the short crops instead of on
wheat. We now have over 80
million acres in wheat whereas
the government at one time re
stricted the acreage to 55.000,000
—or tried to.
We probably tan use the extra
wheat for a year or two. But we
are more quickly going fb get to
the end of solid wheat prices with
so huge an acreage. Suppose, for
instance, there w-as a subsidy on
flox that would put some North
Dakota wheat land into that crop.
Someway, we think, that a mere
