Visits Moro
C. Leonard Ireland, former
publisher of the Sherman Coun
ty Observer, one of the papers
consolidated to make the Sher
man County Journal, was here
Monday. He now lives at Molal
la and was visiting a nephew at
Hood River when he made his
trip to visit old friends at Moro.
He was publisher, either alone
or with his father, from 1894 to
1931-
Wily Knighten and daughter,
Anajean' drove to LaGrande last
Friday to bring Mrs Knighten
home from summer school and
Sunday Anajean left for Eugene
to start the second session of
summer school there.

guests of Mr and Mrs Dick Huh-
man at Sandy last Saturday and
Sunday while gathering some
gallons of wild blackberries and

to visit his mother for a couple
of weeks.
Mr and Mrs Walter Raasch of
Tacoma, Wn., were here last
week to visit his sister, Mrs
Truman Strong. Mrs Strong’s
mother came with them to spend
a part of the summer. /
Rebekahs of the Moro lodge,
not wishing to stop meetings
during harvest have started
meetings on Tuesday afternoons
instead of at night.* First such
meeting was held this week. This
gives the women a chance to
meet when they are not so
busy as at night when harvest-^
ers must be fed about time lodge"
usually convenes.
Mr and Mrs John boss have
received from their daughter.
Mrs Jack Matson in Washington
D.' C- an envelope containing
much material about the funeral
of General Pershing. Mrs Matson
was able to attend.

Lloyti Johnson homes
Mr and Mrs E. I. Landstrom
of Lebanon stopped in Moro
briefly Wednesday while on a
trip through here. She was a
former resident, t>eing Li du
Bolton, and a daughter of an
early day druggist.
