Snow began failing -W ednes­
day evening and all day T h u rs­
day in a blizzard from the east.
About a foot o f snow fell on the
level w ith drifts from four to
six feet deep and some ' deeper.
The tem perature was around
zero and on Friday m orning it
was six below zero. There was
no school
T hursday o r Friday
as the roads w ere blocked. The
.sta te and county highway crews
w orked night and day" to open
th e roads, most of them were
opened so school was resum ed
Monday m orning.
A chinook
wind started blowing Saturday
night and all day Sunday m elting

Mr and Mrs F red Cox retu rn ed
home Saturday evening from
Corvallis w here they spent since
last T uesday visiting at the hom e
of th eir son in law and daughter,

Cards were in play at th ree ta­
bles w ith Mrs A rt Bibby and
Mrs C. R. Anderson holding high
scores. Mrs Sim Duncan held low
score for the afternoon. M rs Bib
by also won the traveling prize.

fender as the pavem ent was
covered w ith hard packed snow
and w as very slick. Mrs R. J.
Baker was in th e car w ith M rs
Bibby but n e ith e r was hurt. The
w recker took the Bibby car to
The Dalles.
