Club Wiil Hold
First Meeting
The Moro Woman’s Club will
hold its first meeting of the club
year Friday, October sixth, at 2:30
o’clock. A4 members are ’urged
to be present as, besides the pro
gram which has been arranged,
consisting of a talk by Misj Leisz,
and accounts of summer trips by
Mrs. Haufelt and Mrs. Ramsey,
important announcements will be
made.

of Mrs. Dewey Thompson with
Mrs. Martin Melzer as leader. As

Oregonians Trying
To Get Census Jobs
Washington, D. C., Special—
Hundreds of Oregon residents have
been writing to the census bureau
here for jabs as enumerators.
The bureau announces the the
enumerators will riot be appointed
from Washington, but Will be
selected after a mild test by the
supervisors of the various dis
tricts. Tentatively, there will be
six census districts in Oregon and
an army of doorbell ringers will
be engaged. Enumerators fwill have
about two weeks work. Under the
present program, the members of
Congress (Republicans) will have
npthing to say about the appoint
ments.
MORO SCHOOL NOTES

In the volley ball games last
Friday nigMt with Grass Valley,
the Moro girls defeated1 the Grass
Valley girls by a close score of
18 to 14. Th4 Moro boys were de
feated by the Grass Valley boys
by a score of 44 to 22. The games
this Friday night will be with
Kent at Kent. This will be the
first game away from home this
year.
Th? girls glee club has been
practicing lately and may present
an operetta later in the school
yeai.
There was a young people’s
party at the Church Wednesday
evening from 7:30 until 9^0
sponsored by the Christian Endea
vor. There were 25 young people
present including high school peo
ple, alupini and some of the
teachers. Interesting games were
played and enjoyed. Then the
group sang fun songs and hymns.
Later in the evening refreshments
were served consisting of sand
wiches, potato salad, pickles and
olives and punch. After a period
of visiting everyone returned to
their homes after a very enjoyable
evening.
