Farmers in many inttances,
some even in the Columbia basin,
could be encouraged to put their
land in grass and produce wool,
mutton, beef or milk if they were
given encouragement and support
while the change was being made.
This administration has ceased
to give active support to market
ing associations that were spon
sored by the former government
leaders. Since 1982 production
control has been the major theme
of farm „relief when much good
might have been done by aiding
the distribution of farm products
and this sort of aid would have
benefited both the producer and the
consumer.
It is time for a careful study of
the farm situation without prejp-
■dicr and without face saving and
with the fate of the farmer as the
primary consideration not theJ fate
of a political party.
