Short Course
Not To Be Held
This Winter
The Farmer»’ Short Course at
Oregon State college, which had
been announced for early in the
year, has had to be cancelled be
cause of inability of the agricul
tural staff, already loaded with ex
tra work, to carry through proper
ly the short course program, ac
cording to Wn. A. Schoenfeld,
dean of agriculture.
There is a real need for a re
sumption of these practical short
courses, believe» Dean Schoenfeld,
and it had been hoped that thia
was a year that one could be put
on Since the tentative plana were
announced, however, the staff has
had to care for an almost doublea
enrollment in the school of agri
culture, preparations for the ser
ies of 25 county farm outlook con
ferences. and the work connected
with regional agricultural adjust
ment study.
These, with the Bangs disease,
control program, the cooperative
work necessary with the Taylor
Grazing act. and the continuation
of many emergency services, has!
brought the greatest load in his-'
tory to the agricultural staff, says 1
Dean Schoenfeld.
* It is planned to schedule the |
short course again as soon as it
appears feasible.
