Richard Watson Makinson was born in Missouri on December 28. 1810, and died at 'iuriock. Calif.. on November 27. 1'.'17. aged 70 , years, 10 months and 29 days. He was left an orphan when but eit:ht years made his home with a brotherinlaw, after which he started out in the world to made his own way. In 1872 he was married toMariah Brooks in Linn county, Kansas, and four years ater crossed the plains gointf first to Pine Valley but later in the same year removing to Eagle Valley, where he lived until 1912 when he moved to Turlock. Mr. Makinson was the father of six children, five of whom are left with their mother (aged 71 years) to mourn his demise. The children surviving are Fred and Josiah of Turlock, Calif. ; Robert of Fallon, Nevada; Charley, a resident of Utah, and Mrs. Al berta Kendall of Richland.
