Thousands of Baby Trout
The state fish car arrived at
Robinetto Monday and around
seventy cans of young trout were
distributed in Eagle and Pine
Valleys. Thirty-two cans woro
brought to Richland on the even
ing's stage but owing to tho late
arrrivnl could not bo distributed
at various points as had been
planned so woro all put in Little
Euglo near the middle bridge.
An inspection of tho cans before
emptying showed the fish to bo
in fine condition, and as thero is
an abundance of water tho little
trout will Boon bo scattered a long
ways up Main Eagle.

THE HIGHWAY ASSURED
County Judgd Duly, Thos. G.
Montgomery, L B. Bowcnand H.
S. Bowen were in from Baker
Tuesday intervlewingour citizens
regarding the Baker-Cornucopia
highway. We were told by mem
bers of the party that tho move
ment is meeting with general ap
proval in every district visited.
It is true that there is a slight
difference of opinion regarding
the route, but as that matter rests
largely with the government and
state officials, most everyone has
declared his willingness to help
the cause along whatever route
13 decided ucon.
The need of a highway that can
be travelled tho year around is
most urgent and the opportunity
is now presented whereby it can
be built with a little co-operation
on the part r.f qui citizens. The
state will give a dollar for every
dollar' raised in tho county, and
the governmpnt will give two
dollars to every dollar thus raised.
It is up to the residents of this
section now, and every one should
help out most liberally. A local
committee will soon start solicit
ing funds for this road and when
you are called upon don't fail to
"come through," for the road
will be worth many thousands cf
dollars to the cmrmiunity. . ,
One "oftC,S.late Highway
Commissioners and a civil engin
eer are expected to go over the
different routes in a few days and
ntev make a complete survey of
the route deemed most practical.
