Senator Strayer, in the class address, complimented Eagle Va ly on tho excellent facilities af forded within its boundaries for education, bringing out many points that should prove Of much benefit both to ihc graduates ant to tho residents of tho district in general. Mr. II. II. Moody, as a director of Union High School District No 2, presented the diplomas, saying as ho did so, that though serving without salary, ho felt more than compensated for the time ho had spent and trouble ho had been to, in being able to be present ant t i. witness sucn an excellent ant pleasant termination of the schoo year. The "Class of 1917" was com posed of Harriet Sharp, Lucih Brooks, Francis Herr and Gil Wright, and wo are confident that their future life, no matter what line of endeavor they may undertake, will reflect credit on the thorough training received in tho Eagle Valley schools. Eighth Grade Graduates A goodly number attended the eighth grade graduating exercises at the Christian church Thursday evening, and mo program was indeed a most fitting ending for the school year just closed as well as a tribute to tho efheiencv of tho teacher, Miss Mmido Halloy. nil ... . t ine program tnroughout was excellent, andjthe address by Rev. Bean was replete with thoughts that may well bo carried through life by each' and every ono of tho graduates to their personnl bend fit. Tho class was comnosed of Anna Jones. A representative delegation of Baker county tax payers held a J meeting at tho opera house Mon-, day night and told tho audience! nsse-n hied tho reasons they stood 1 back of the recall cf Mossick and , Rittcr. Personalities were not in- dulged in and the remarks by! each speaker were to the effect that Mossick and Rittor had will- fully squandered tho people's, money and teen traitor- to the; economy platform on which both i were elected to office. ) The best of order prevailed and j the greatest respect was shown j tho delegation, and wo are con-j fident that on next Monday the majority of the voters in Baker county will show by their votes that they have had onough of Mossick and Rittcr and will elect j in their stead Wni. Duby and John Eraser, both of whom are compo- tent, conservative men and who! state publicly that they will not! allow any appropriation to tho county fair or other institution only by direct vote of the people. Following the openingsong ser vice, Rev. Thomas gave an ap priate prayer, after which Rev. Bean delivered a sermon that was in every way in keeping with tho occasion. His earnestness and sincerity commanded the atten tion and respect of the entire audience, and we believe that each of his hearers left the ohnrnh with n irrontor love in their hpsirt for God, their country and the G. A. R. An enormous crowd were in at tendance at the exercises yester day and were favored with an exceptionally good program. The afdress of the day by Rev. Owen F. Jones of Baker was a master piece of oratory, patriotism and sound logic; directly m keeping with the significance ol theoccas. Ion for the present time as well as historically. The seriousness of our nation's part in the pres ent war was most forcibly called to the attention of the people and the real cause of the war fully explained. Senator Strayer gave a brief sketch on the importance of all men between 21 and 30, inclusive registering next Tuesday. The instrumental and vocal numbers were excellent and the flag drill by 10 girls and 10 boys under tho direction of Wm. E.
