dairymen of Eagle Valley and
the NEWS publishes it fdr yopr
benefit, it explains just how the
situation stands here between the
Jcnson people and the cheese
business.

valleys thatl ever saw in my life.
And yet it is some distance re-

Early Sunday morning the

mer and District Attorney C. T.
Godwin appeared in' Eagle and
proceeded to turn things up side
down in an effort to locate unlaw
ful booze. They invaded and
searched all establishments, both
in New Bridge and Richland
where it was thought that this
liquor might be kept and as a re
sult made several arrests.
Jim Downing, Dick Dillard,
Ashby of New Bridge, and Chas.
Kellorof Cornucopia also Mrs.
Kellor were all placed under two
hundred and fifty dollar bonds to
appear Monday dnd answer the
charge of unlawfully selling booze
in a dry territory.
It is understood that spirits
were found in the soft clrink es
tablishment at Richland and also
,a government licence. At New
Bridge no booze was found but a
governmedt license was in evi-

Methodist Church Sunday School
entertained the young ladies class

of the church last Friday even
ing. A number of games were
played and greatly enjoyed by
those present. Refreshments
consisting of ico cream and cake
were served, the young men act
ing as waiters and aside from for
getting to fold the napkins, they
did very well. After this songs

New Bridge and Richland havej
been under suspicions for some
time, it being evident that booze
was being sold Somewhere in
these places, this seemed to be
generally known, but where it
cama from, no one could tell,
whether they luwcryet the r right
parties in all instanses, yet re
mains to be seen bul they, have
at least. a,cted. and from all out
ward appearances, New Bridge
and Richland will from now on
bo free from liquor.

went to Powder river to attend
a dance given in the new school
house near Claude Bennett's
place one night last week.

The Pythian Sisters of .Rich
land,' Oregon, entertained tli;e K.
of P. in their new home on tae'
evening of July, 30, at' which
time the lodges property was
1 moved over and placed in their
property rooms', after which Jice-
'cream and cake was served.
The Pythian Sisters presented
eighteen (18) nice chairs for use
in the lodge rooms. These chairs
were badly needed and very much
appreciated. A vote of thanks
