THE HYPOCRITE.
Rev. McVeigh landed a body blow on
hypocrites in his sermon last Sunday
morning. In no unmistakable expres­
sion he depicted who was the hypocrite
and how he could be determined. His
remark was only a side hit, but w a s j
direct from the shoulder and one that
could he carried home and the more de­
fined the greater appeals the force. Too j
many hypocrites preambulate in society,
too many by far.
The hypocrite is the one person of all
persons detested by the square-toed
man, be he either Christian or unbe­
liever, and above all the one that should
he relegated to the rear in society’s
realm, at least until the yellow streaks
in his general make up is entirely ob­
literated.
The pure, unadulterated hypocrite is
the backbiting, blaspheming hypocrite,
the scorpion of society, the cowardly,
ill-bred, self-styled, know it all, that
stands in the background as though in
ambush, and cries “ hypocrite’’ to every
man that is trying to live a clean life.
