Yamhill county is figuring on a
$500,000 road bond issue. Yauihillers
say you cannot keep the old countv

it is figuring on further improvement.
Something good will come from the
road agitation in Yamhi’ l, for the
county contains the finest farming
country on earth, and first class roads
through it is what will sell farm lands
and settle up the county with thriftv,
enterprising new farmers.
What is said of Yamhill county re

AN OUTRAGEOUS PROPOSITION.
So far the Oregon legislature has
shown no disposition to injure anv Ore-
gon industries by radical or freak legis
lation. A bill has been introduced,
however, attacking the fish industry on
the Rogue river. The motive behind
this hill seems to he the whim of a few
"sportsmen” w ho wish commercial fish
ing killed on the Rogue river to insure
t hem belter sport a few days in the
year.
We will make no attempt to argue the
merits of injuring a great industry for
the benefit of a few rod and gun clubs
and to-called “ sports.” The motive
alone is enough to kill it.
<
Onegoii has had enough freak legisla
tion and this move is so preposterous
that it should he given a scant heed.
To hamper or kill an Oregon industry
that employs hundreds of workmen for
t lie benefit of a few “ sports” would he
a black sp,.t in the state's historv.
