STEAM f i the B usiness M en’s Club oi tlie N estucca V alley. The Nestucco valley h^s a full Hedged business m en’s association and quarters to meet in. This association proposes to do something. They are going to see t hat a permanent physician and a resi dent dentist locate here. Both of these we need and there are also other things we need, but at the present they expect to accomplish one thing at a time and ¡is soon as one good thing is accom plished commence on another. There is no good reason why Clover- dale should not grow to be a good-sized town and it is hoped through this new organization to do much toward making tiie growth more rapid. Surrounding Cloverdaie is the most prosperous country to be found and this to any village means more than is usually figured on by those not ma terially interested. Cloverdaie is situated ideallv for a home town. It has school advantages not usually provided in a town the size of this of ours. Ah soon at. there are a sufficient num ber of citizens in Cloverdaie it should be incorporated and every effort should be put forward to secure the required HALLOWE’EN PARTY. Mr. and Mrs. Bidgood Loyally Entertain the Cloverdaie High School. In response to nifty hallowe’en in vitations bedecked with black cats, etc., the high school students and a few near high school students hied themselves to the home of Prof. Bidgood Monday evening. The rain came down in tor rents and the wind blew a gale hut it would take more than that to dampen the spirits of the young people and keep them in wffen these good people invite them to their home. The house was prettily decorated with autumn leaves and nothing in the way of entertainm ent was left which might have been desired. (Ihosts, ghost stor ies, the witch with her caldroun and a fortune for all was much enjoyed «ml the “ Show” with I’rof. A genial host and hostess ably assisted by the teachers, Miss Stevens. Miss I'unham, and Miss Beals gave the young people an evening of pleasure long to he remembered. Peterson, of Grand Ronde, who is known as a good roads booster, is eirculating a petition asking for federal and state aid, to open a feeder to the Willamette valley and Portland. This particular piece of road lies west aad southwest of Grand Ronde, and is part ly in Polk, Yamhill, Tillamook and Lin 'A 9 Ufr V? For qubo a distance there is no road at all only a muddy trail through Yamhill county connect ing Yamhill county to the Salmon River road to Rose Lodge, Utis, Devil's bake and Taft. Mr. Peterson savs: “ There is an en terprising people living in that district as was shown bv the recent fair at the grange hall at Rose Lodge which wax held in ¿September of last year, The products exhibited could have been ex celled nowhere und was worthy of a place in the Chamber of Commerce iu Port land. It is difficult to give an idea ot the productiveness, the beaches, tide- lands, beautiful lakes, timber districts, ri\ern, and dishing industry, cattle raising of that district. Anton Kisch operates a cheese factory there. To think that these people have no wagon road only a few weeks in the year by which they can get to to the Valley and Portland is a serious m atter.” Mr. Peterson hopes that his petition will he liberally signed when Jie pre sents it to the taxpayers. There ought to be a n ad built there soon, said Mr. Peterson. " It can be done on a 2 pel cent grade from Grand Rondo to Taft ami Hiletz Bay at a minnimurn of ex- deiiditure. There is plenty of road rock available, lie also points out the fact that there are several sawmills in that district, one at Rose Lodge, Otis, Taft ond other points.— McMinnville News- Reporter.
