And th is she did w ithout rev ealin g to m e th e fa c t th a t she knew him to be th e m an I should have beeu a fte r. One day 1 w as d ire c te d by my chief to call upon th e p re sid e n t of th e T hird N atio n al bank. I did so. a n d he said to me: “ Mr. W illiam s, w e h av e a w om an In o u r em plov w hom w e suspect of em bezzling o u r funds. T h e case Is a sin g u lar one, nud I m u st give it to you so fa r ns it h a s alre ad y developed. T h ere Is a m y stery connected w ith it w hich is v ery puzzling.
