Sally laughed indulgently. "I'o o ro M n in!" she said. “ If he really knew w h a t his neig hbors said nbout him do you suppose he w ould sum m on pride to his aid a n d give som ething?" “ I'm su re he w ould not," asserted June, w ith em phasis. “H e's been a p pro ach ed by every one. 1 even w ent th e re m yself!" “ And he re fu sed ?” asked Sally. T h ese lilies had to be picked. I have prom ised them by noon. T hey are for M iss T r e n t’s w edding bouquet. You see, 1 am ex plaining w hy I can n o t give them to you." “Ah. no!
