FRIDAY. AUGUST 28. 1915 Every citizen in Tillamook -County has reason to feel proud of the County Fair this year. The exhibits are well arranged, and taken all in all, the dis plays are good. The fair management are entitled to credit, yea, more than that. At Leeds, Kas.. there is a municipal farm for the treatm ent of drug anil liquor addicts. A vigorous two-dsy course of medical treatm ent is followed by three weeks’ hard labor in the fields. Two thousand men have already been treated. GEORGIA. AS AN INVESTIGATOR. The law and order people of the United States will watch closely the investiga tion of the lynching of Leo M. Frank by the state of Georgia. No one should get their expectations, that the guilty parties will be brought to justice, too high. It is verydoubtful if any of those piersons will he brought to account for the m nrder of the state’s prisoner. Georgia is not a -date which has a very high moral standard Georgia as an investigator of lyneh- ings has never obtained a record for thoroughness. There is no calamity ever befallen Georgia that will work as much real harm as this last diabolical act of a few of her blood-thirsty toughs. Like all other states Geoirga has her coterie of honorable, law-abiding citizens and just the same as all other states, and even cities and villages, where this law- abiding element does not predominate lawlessness thrives. Where lawlessness thrives nothing else can thrive, that will be permc.ne.it. And if we are per mitted to use the expression, there ar^ any number of cities and towns “sucking the hind teat” because of the predomi nation of the lawless class. Georgia has never been at the top of the ladder with other states of the union and until she gets some of the foolish notions out of her head she will remain just where she is, at the bottom round of the ladder. The idea of a state prison made to con trol and keep incarated the roughest element of the state living entered bv a po-se of citizens and at a time when just such lawlessness might be expected. It would be a wholesome lesson to discharge from service every m other's son connected in any way with the prison at the time Leo Frai.k w*s taken out and murdered, followed by an investigation as to criminality in con- nection therewith. The World’s Greatest Exposition Children need fewer critics and more good models. Love and romance are more pleasing than matrimony and history. Happy is the girl who thinks her | father is the best man on earth. A woman believes in platonic affec- j tion until she gets old enough to know 1 better. A woman laughs when she is in love for the same reason a timid man whistles—merely to keep up her cour age. Second thoughts are best, especially when they are less expensive. A man can easily prove that lie is in sane by having some of his love letters read in court. Many people are either rich or happy, but few are both. Every man May have his price, but sooner or later the majority land on the bargain counter. Men who are not used to society often get “ hailed up” in a ballroom. Is now at its Heights in San Francisco Never Indore in the history of the world has there been conducted such a magnificent and wonder ful Exposition.
