This May, a handful of local groups will host training for volunteers who are in- terested in helping collect data on the iconic black oystercatcher. Along with community partners, The Audubon Society of Port- land coordinates this great program to help everyone learn more about this be- loved coastal bird every year. The event will be held at Cannon Beach City Hall, 163 E. Gower St., on Fri- day, May 4, at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. No experience necessary. The training is orga- nized by Audubon Society of Portland in partner- ship with the Haystack Rock Awareness Program, Friends of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve, Oregon Marine Reserve Partner- ship, U.S. Geologic So- ciety, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife.
