Savor Cannon Beach offers an intimate wine festival experience from March 8 to March 11. The largest event of the festival, the Saturday wine walk, is limited to several hundred wine-tasters who can visit 40 Northwest wineries pouring tastings at art galleries, restaurants and retail shops. A $40 ticket buys a souvenir glass and free tastings at all lo- cations. A complimentary shuttle will operate during the event between different parts of town and hotels. The festival kicked off Thursday with “Best of the Northwest Throwdown,” an evening featuring a tasting of 12 award-win- ning wines and chef-pre- pared small bites to pair with them. The Pacific Northwest wines featured include recent Gold Med- al-winners from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, SavorNW Wine Awards and Cascadia Wine Competition along with one wine selected among the top 100 wines of the year by Wine Spec- tator Magazine. The Winemaker’s Pre- mium Pours event show- cases five Northwest win- eries each pouring three special wines that may include library wines, ver- tical or horizontal tastings or reserve selections. The “Battle of the Bites” event features gold medal-win- ning wines from the 2018 Savor NW Wine Awards and “bites” offered by area chefs and restaurants. Par- ticipant votes determine which bite wins the battle. Individual tickets to festival events are $20 to $40 each. A daily pass for Friday or Saturday is available for $55 and a full festival pass good for ad- mission to all six festival events is $175. Advance purchase is recommend- ed, as events are limited in size and have sold out in past years.
