Tribute to the Gershwins
in Cannon Beach
Members of the Cannon
Beach Chorus will present
the group’s sixth annual
cabaret performance at 7
p.m. Friday and Saturday,
July 8 and 9, at the Seaside
Elks Lodge located at 324
Avenue A. This season’s
cabaret theme is “New
York’s Gershwins!”
The chorus will be
singing a medley of tunes
composed by George and
Ira Gershwin that include
“An American in Paris,”
“I Got Rhythm,” “They
Can’t Take That Away
from Me,” “Somebody
Loves Me,” “Someone to
Watch Over Me,” “Strike
Up the Band,” “Swanee”
and more.
Under the direction
of Dr. John Buehler, the
chorus presents the sum-
mer cabaret performance
as a beneit concert for
the Cannon Beach Chorus
Vocal Scholarship, which
is awarded to graduating
high school seniors who
will continue choral par-
ticipation at the collegiate
level.
In addition to the Ger-
shwin pieces, individu-
als from the chorus will
present other musical se-
lections with pianist Dr.
Susan Buehler and emcee
Paul Dueber.
Tickets for the cabaret
are $20 for individuals and
$120 for a table of eight.
Ticket purchases include
an evening of extraordi-
nary entertainment, lite
bites from the buffet with
beverage and a cash bar.

Great music, great food
at Manzanita fest
A new festival will take
over downtown Manzanita
this coming July.
The Manzanita Music
Festival will be an annu-
al music celebration that
presents a multi-genre col-
lection of local, regional
and national musicians
playing Americana, folk,
pop, reggae, bluegrass and
more.
The festival is part-
nering with the Hoffman
Center for the Arts and
the North County Recre-
ation District in Nehalem.
These partners promote
the educational, recre-
ational, social, and physi-
cal well being of residents
of Tillamook County. Pro-
ceeds from the event will
support other like-minded
organizations in the com-
munity.
The inaugural festi-
val will take place July
23 and 24 in downtown
Manzanita. It will kick off
at the beach after the 26th
annual Manzanita Beach
Walk and Run, then ex-
tend up Laneda Avenue to
stages at Third Street and
a main stage at the Hoff-
man Center Garden next to
the library. Besides music,
the festival will also offer
local and regional craft
brews, wine and food.
