Two dead in fatal
Highway 101 crash
Oregon State Police troop-
ers and emergency personnel
responded to the report of a
two vehicle head-on crash on
Highway 101 near milepost
28 just north of Cannon Beach
Saturday, April 23.
According to state police,
a 2011 Hyundai sport utility
was traveling southbound on
Highway 101 when it crossed
over the centerline and struck
a northbound 2007 Chevrolet
Tahoe head-on. After the im-
pact both vehicles came to rest
on the highway.
The driver of the Hyund-
ai, Gregory W Heron, and his
passenger, Martha H. Heron,
both 64 and from Manzani-
ta, were pronounced dead on
scene.
Police reported the driv-
er of the Chevrolet, Diana R.
Feke, 57, and Jethro J. Feke,
59, both of West Linn received
non-life threatening injuries.
Both were taken to an area
hospital for treatment.
Highway 101 was closed
for about three and a half hours
while the investigation was
conducted. State police were
assisted by the Clatsop Coun-
ty Medical Examiner, Cannon
Beach Fire Department, Can-
non Beach Police Department,
and the Oregon Department of
Transportation.

Boulevard: Oicer responded to a
DUII motorcycle accident. David
Booth, 63, of Beaverton, was arrested
and charged with a DUII and reckless
driving. Subject had a BAC of .19.
April 6
4:10 p.m. Hemlock and Jeferson:
Found dog turned in to Police De-
partment and returned to owner.
April 7
5:40 p.m. Haystack Rock: Report
of child found on beach missing
parents. Child later reunited with
parents.
April 9
1:41 p.m. E. 2nd St: Parking com-
plaint. Report of Charter bus with
nowhere to park, all spaces taken
up by passenger vehicles. Parking
citations issued.
April 10
3:20 a.m. 800 Block S. Roosevelt:
Oicer assisted other agency with
canine search.
9:28 a.m., Avenue S/South Wah-
anna: Eluding a police oicer. Of-
icer initially observed vehicle on
Highway 101, stopped vehicle in
Arch Cape.
April 12
10:47 a.m. Highway 101/Picture
Windows Lane: Oicer assisted
Oregon State Police with traic
complaint. Motor home disabled
in the middle of Highway 101,
near milepost 32. Citizen helped
tow motor home to a safe location
(at Picture Windows Lane) before
police department arrival. Owner
arranged for tow.
6:25 p.m. 1100 Block S. Hemlock
St.: Welfare check. Report of heav-
ily intoxicated male staggering in
to traic. Contacted subject, who
refused oicer’s assistance. Subject
warned for disorderly conduct and
accepted a ride from a citizen to
Seaside.
April 13
11:42 a.m. 100 Block S. Surfcrest:
Assist other agency. Female slipped
getting out of the shower. Oicer
assisted with directing personnel.
3:27 p.m., 1200 Block S. Hemlock.:
Disturbance. Received a report of
intoxicated male panhandling.
The intoxicated male stated he

intoxicated and arrested by the Or-
egon State Police for DUII.
3:55 p.m. Hemlock/Coolidge: Distur-
bance. Received a report of a distur-
bance in the Haystack Parking Lot.
Arrived and found subject arguing
with citizens. Due to bus for Tillamook
arriving in 20 minutes, oicer chose
not to arrest for disorderly conduct so
subject could make the bus. Oicer
broke contact with him, but remained
within eyesight of him. During that
time he observed no criminal activity.
Once the bus arrived, oicer assisted
subject in boarding and he left.

stated he was lost and was unable
to get out of the gate, so he decid-
ed to sleep until the morning and
ind a way out. Oicer Josh Gregory
informed the subject the gate was
closed but not locked, and advised
him to exit the location. He did so.
3:34 p.m. 3900 Block S. Hemlock: Res-
ident reported that someone entered
his residence and turned on a gas
stove in the basement while he was
away and had left the door unlocked.
11:08 p.m. Elk Creek Road: Suspi-
