for overnight camping.

supervisor/employee dispute
over wages. Subjects agreed to
handle situation civilly. Warn-
ing issued to both for disorderly
conduct.
9:22 a.m. U.S. Highway 101
at milepost 31: abandoned/junk
vehicle. Officer observed vehicle
parked alongside highway got
more than one week. (Vehicle
towed as abandoned on march
18 by Gary’s Service Station.)

9:35 a.m. 3500 block of

Pacific Street: officer observed
code violation. House address
numbers missing.
10 a.m. 100 block of East
Gower Street: sex crimes.
8:38 p.m. Second Street
parking lot: camping within
city limits. Subject(s) warned
for unlawful lodging.
March 16
2:53 p.m. Second and Larch
streets: assistance rendered. Re-
ceived a report from a mother
that she had locked her infant
boy inside her vehicle by acci-
dent. Arrived and, after calming
mother down, was able to get
Gary’s Service Center to open
the vehicle rather than forcing
entry. Infant appeared to be OK
and was on his way to a doctor’s
appointment, so medical was
no summoned.
3:59 p.m. Second and Larch
streets: verbal disturbance.
Officer located the subjects
9:40 a.m. 900 block of South
Hemlock Street: assistance
rendered. Two syringes, found
during yard work, destroyed by
officer in sharps container.
9:07 a.m. Tolovana Way-
side: camping within city lim-
its. Verbal warning for overnight
camping.
March 20
11:48 a.m. Beach and First
Street: other all. Report of a vehi-
cle stuck in the sand. Officer ar-
rived. Tow company dispatched.
1:50 p.m. 300 block of Sev-
enteenth Avenue in Seaside:
theft III. Theft case forwarded
by Seaside Police Department.
10:43 p.m. Les Shirley Park:
camping within city limits. Over-
night camper sleeping in his ve-
hicle. Advised of code. Moved.
11:42 p.m. Haystack Park-
ing: minor in possession of al-
cohol. Contacted four female
subject for overnight camping
ordinance. After further inves-
tigation, it was determined the
subject were all minors in pos-
session of alcohol. All were cited.
March 21
in Cannon Beach. After further
investigation, original number
was incorrect. Correct number
provided and phone was pinged
to a person located in Yamhill
County. Appropriate agency was
notified to investigate.
5:02 p.m. Mo’s Restaurant at
ocean shore: injured windsurfer
on the beach by Warren Way.
Medix transport to Seaside. Ad-
vised of code violation relating
to windsurfing.
March 23
March 22
12:03 p.m. 100 block of
11:30 a.m. 3400 block of
South Hemlock Street: suspi-
cious circumstances. Guests at
motel reported odor of marijua-
na coming from room occupied
by small child. Officer unable to
make contact with occupants of
room, did not detect marijuana
odor. Check made again at 6:30
p.m. No answer and no odor of
marijuana.
West Gower Street: theft III.
Theft from coin-operated vend-
ing machine. Complaint from
neighbor of trash scattered
about the neighborhood, due
to non-securing of garbage cans
being turned over by animals.
Property manager was contact-
ed by phone. Advised he will
have someone come clean the
mess the following day and will
address the issue with the cans
not securing. He requested pub-
lic works be advised to sweep
the street in the neighborhood
and also to tidy the drain area
of gravel. Email sent to public
works. No further.
1:37 p.m. 3700 block of
West Chinook Street: traffic com-
plaint. Report of teenager rid-
ing co-kart through residential
neighborhood. Officer located
unoccupied go-kart parked in
driveway of residence. No issue
at this time.
11:55 p.m. Madison Park;
camping within city limits. Con-
tacted subjects for suspicion of
overnight camping over last 48
hours. Confirmed they had been
camping and were warned to
move on, which they did.
1:37 p.m. Indian Beach:
report of three surfers missing
in water. Officer assisted with
water rescue.
2:43 p.m. Haskell Lane: sick
person cared for. Suicidal female
called her husband and said she
was in Washington Park and was
going to kill herself using pills.
Driving black Hyundai Santa
Fe with unknown plate num-
ber. Provided cell phone was
pinged along U.S. Highway 101

3:19 a.m. Brallier Road and
beach: camping within city lim-
its. Subject(s) warned for unlaw-
ful lodging.
7:51 p.m. 1000 block of
South Hemlock Street: theft III.
11:11 p.m. City Hall flag
pole: camping within city lim-
its. Received an anonymous
complaint of a person sleeping
at the base of the flag pole at
City Hall. Subject stated she was
waiting for the bus to Newport
in the morning. Refused ride and
stated she would wait for bus.
Advised not to sleep within city
and warned for camping.
March 25
12:50 a.m. East side of Sec-
ond Street restrooms: camping
within city limits. While on patrol
observed subjects sleeping in
the vehicle. Subjects warned for
overnight camping and cleared.
2:52 a.m. Tolovana Wayside:
camping within city limits. While
on patrol observed subjects
sleeping in vehicle. Subjects
warned for overnight camping
and cleared.
3:02 a.m. Tolovana Way-
side: camping within city limits.
Subject(s) warned for unlawful
lodging.
March 26
11:46 a.m. Skate Park: code
violation. Verbal warning issued
for no helmet.
3:33 p.m. Ecola Creek and
beach: suspicious circumstanc-
es. Officer responded for report
of a subject acting suspicious.
Officer contacted the subject
on the beach. Subject was de-
termined to be OK but under
some stress. Officer offered
subject information regarding
resources available within the
county. Subject accepted. Offi-
cer cleared.
March 27
6:21 a.m. 100 block of Eco-
la Court: unauthorized use of a
motor vehicle. Stolen vehicle.
6:43 p.m. U.S. Highway 101
at Hug Point: assistance pro-
vided to Oregon State Police.
Single-vehicle motor vehicle ac-
cident. Two females transported
to Columbia Memorial Hospital.
8:26 p.m. 800 block of
South Hemlock Street: trespass.
Dispute between guest and ho-
tel management at motel. Man-
agement said guest could stay
if guest stopped “harassing” the
staff. Guest elected to leave due
to being “misled” about room
size. No criminal issue.
11:40 p.m. 300 block of
North Spruce Street: property
crimes. Reported cell phone
stolen out of daughter’s pocket
at Mariner Market. Phone had
been picked up by a citizen
in the area of the Post Office.
Phone turned in to the police.
Phone returned to owner.

partment to start its Ninth
Annual South County
Citizen’s Police Academy.
Classes will be held every
Monday evening from 7
SPWRSPEHJLQQLQJ
next week and ending
June 22. There may also
be an optional Saturday
class as well. This acade-
my is open to community
members who have an in-
terest in law enforcement
and want to learn more
about their police agencies
in south Clatsop County.
The goal is to educate
citizens about the different
aspects of law enforce-
ment and strengthen com-
munity ties. Participants
will have an opportunity
to learn about each depart-
