Received report of an attempted theft by decep- tion. Reporting party stated he received a phone call from a male claiming to be from a collection agency working on behalf of Pacifi c Power. The male stated reporting party’s power would be turned off if he didn’t pay. Reporting party, who has auto-pay set up, got a callback number, contacted the police department. Offi cer attempted to trace the number but was unable to, forwarded to fraud commission. 11:12 a.m. 300 block of Sunset Boulevard. Other all: second day of shooting. Offi cer contacted group again, advised their activity was legal. Howev- er, offi cer requested they shoot somewhere else, suggested other places to shoot. Observed no signs of intoxication or any illegal activity. Subjects were shooting into tree trunk with unoccupied woods behind it. Received a number of calls about it. One complaint wanted contact. Offi cer spoke via phone, advised the shooting was legal and, if they were that concerned, they could contact their county commissioner. Subject was subsequently charged with driving under the infl uence of intoxicants, driving while suspended, breath test refusal and speeding.
