ton on Tuesday.
E. 6. Stomp of Mayville is
building another Hue barn on his
ranch.
Evangelists Earnest Matthews,
E. A. Lewis and Sadie McCoy
Lewis of Fossil passed through
this city yesterday morning on
their way to Bellinghani, Wn.,
Where they will hold a series of
evangelistic meetings.
J. E. Schroeder went to The
Dalles yesterday on business.
Wm. Freeman returned on
Tuesday evening from a few
weeks vacation spent in western
Oregon and is again in charge
of the Inland Limited. C. K.
Andrews returned to his home
in The Dalles.
The Ward ranch composed of
1920 acres, owned by the Wade
estate, was sold this week by
D. B. Thomas and Wilber Wade
for $30 per acre, the Wade es
tate taking in Washington timber
lands in the deal.
Jay Bowerman of Portland ar
rived in this city on Monday
evening.
Jamieson and Marshal recently
sold Clyde Cripe a 25 horse-pow
er Alamo gasoline engine which
will be used in threshing.
Carl Balding of Montavilla is
visiting friends in this city.
Father O'Rourke returned on
Wednesday evening.
Dave Cantwell has moved into
the Keeney house in north
Condon.
H. J. Simmons has taken up
his residence in the John Scott
house in west Condon.
Father Brophy of Hermiston,
who filled the pulpit in the Cath
olic Church for the past two
weeks during his absence of
Father O'Rourke, left on Monday
morning.
Mrs. C K. Andrews and little
daughter, Kleone, of The Dalles
visited in this city over Sunday.
Mrs. M. R. Hicks left on Mon
day morning for Portland to spend
a few weeks.
Wm. Shea returned on Monday
evening from a visit of Beveral
weeks at his former home at
Brownsville, Oregon.
Mrs. Dave Edwards and child
ren returned on Monday from a
visit with relatives and friends in
the east.

a job press, type, stationery, etc.,
and is again getting out its issue
at home.

Mrs. A. F. Ferris gave a lunch

who attended wore kimonas and
took there fancywork. A very
pleasant time is reported.

Wade went to Arlington on Sat
urday evening in the latter' au

ing of the Arlington National.

ton a few days the latter part of
last week.
Harvesting is in full awing in
the north end of the county and
in some instances the grain is
turning out considerably better
than was expected.
Thomas Dillon left on Wed
nesday for Portland after spend
ing a few days in this city.
One fanner in the Gooseberry
country has a good crop this
year while on all sides of his
farm the crops are poor. This
tells the tale of the difference
between good farming and poor
farming.
I. A. Johnson of Fossil passed
through this city Tuesday morn
ing bound for Portland.
Sam Davis of Fossil was in the
city on Tuesday.
Ed Horn of Fossil took the In
land Limited from Condon Tues
day morning en route for West
ern Oregon.
A. S. Hollen left on Monday
morning for Portland to join his
wife who is visiting there. They
expect to leave Portland about
the 20th of this, month for Kas-
sas City to visit for some time.
Geo. Knox of Fossil was in
this city Monday morning en-
route to The Dalles and Portland.
