E. P. Mahaffey returned Tues
day from a week's visit in the
Rose City and is again in charge
of the local
Prof. J. C. Sturgill returned
Monday from Baker City where
he had been visiting during the
holidays. Mrs. Sturgill remain
ed with her mother who just re
cently has undergone an oper
ation for appendicitis.
Paul Greiner returned Monday
from a business trip to Medford.
Ray Tracy, of Condon, a stu
dent at the 0. A. C. at Corvallis,
was the guest of Mrs. L. rM.
Schilling and son, Herbert, sev
eral days the past week. Forest

Frank Bennett, formerly with
the Arlington Lumber Co., but
who has been spending a couple
of months at Lone Rock, was
a visitor in town the first of the
week on his way to Arlington.
He will have charge of the ware
house of the A. L. Co. at Roose
velt
F. T. Hurlburt made a business
trip to The Dalles Monday and
Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Q, Jarvis and
their two children; of Gold Hill,
and Mrs. Jarvis' mother, "Mrs.
E. A. Stinchneld of Mayville,
came up from Gold Hill Sunday
morning and spent the day as
the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. A,
Pattison. ., Mr. Jarvis1 recently
purchased the Gold Hill drug
store, and reports good business
conditions in the mining "city.
Central Point Herald. Mr. Jar-
vis formerly owned the Condon
Drugstore.
Miss Emma Anderson,' after
spending the holidays with her
parents in this city, returned to
her work as teacher of the Clem
school, on Monday.
Horace McBride spent Monday
in Arlington.
Miss Florence Clarke, who was
the guest of her parents, ; Mr.
and Mrs. M. O. Clarke of this
city, was a Portland-bound pas
senger on Monday to resume her
studies in the West Side High
School of that city.
H. M. Cox of Arlington was
in town Saturday. '
R. J. Carson was a business
visitor from Spray last Saturday,
John Madden, Jr., who has
been spending the holidays in
Lone Rock and Condon, returned
Monday morning ,to Pullman,
Wn. , where he is a student at
the Washington- State College.
S. J. Butler of Fossil was in
town last Saturday.
Miss Bessie Counts, formerly
deputy county clerk during the
term of Pearl Jarvis, who has
been visiting friends during the
holidays, returned to Goldendale
on Monday where she is steno
grapher for the Klickitat County.

sion of the circuit court
D. R. Parker returned from
Portland Saturday, where he had
been visiting for a week with rel
atives. H. C Strickland came up from
Portland last Saturday.
O. J. Kenniston of Seattle re
turned Tuesday after making a
visit with his brother Ed of this
city.
J. L Blalock of Arlington was
a visitor this week during the
term of circuit court
D. B. Thomas made a trip to
Arlington Tuesday.
L. A. Miller was a visitor from
Lone Rock Monday.
J. M. Morgan of Fossil was in
town the first of the week.
O. G. Tyler was a Condon visi
tor from Fossil Monday.
Kenneth Welsohns and wife,
who had been making an over
Sunday visit with relatives in
this city, returned to their home
in Clem Tuesday.
Tramped on by Horses.
Clyde Frazer, who is farming
the Bert Wells ranch, northeast
of town, had the misfortune to
break his knee last Monday. He
was riding horseback, leading a
number of horses when he acci-
dently fell off and was tramped
on by one of the horses. Clyde
was immediately brought to
towi where he was treated by
Dr. Wood. He is now getting
along nicely at the home of J.
R. Wells in this city.
