The special feature at the mov
ing picture show, the Gans-Nel-son
prize-fight, last week, drew
large crowds each night Since
they started here these people
have enjoyed a large business
and have always given entire
satisfaction. At first their pro
gram was changed but twice a
wek but with the increasing at
tendance have found it neces
sary for an entire change three
times each week.
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Wehrli ex
pect to leave for Portland to
morrow for a few day's visit
They will then go to Leesville,
California where they will visit
with Mrs. Wehrli's brother and
sister.af ter which they will take a
trip through Southern California,
Nebraska and Missouri. The
Globe will keep them posted on
Gilliam County happenings dur
ing their absence.
Miss Scott, Latin teacher in
the High School is spending
Christmas with her folks in Port
land.
Ralph Eddon is visiting in The
Dalles.
H.S. Barnes, one of Reisacher's
expert harness makers, is visiting
in The Dalles this week.
Mayvllle Notes
Charlie Ridgeway and Lance
Grant left Sunday morning for
Culver, Ore., where they will vis
it a short time with the former's
mother.
Rev. A. S. Black of Fossil
preached here Sunday evening to
a large congregation. The ser
mon was followed by a presen
tation of the parable of the Ten
Virgins.
Mrs. W. N. Putnam and daugh
ters left Monday for the Wil
lamette Valley to join Mr. Put
nam who has purchased a small
farm in Polk county.
George Newell came over from
Fossil Wednesday to spend the
holidays with his parents.
Condon Defeats Clem
Last Thursday evening at the
gymnasium, the Condon Athletic
Club defeated the fast Clem
five in the frst game of basket
ball this season. The game was
hard fought and interesting
throughout. The lineup:

McPherson

Smith
Laughrige and Fitzmaurice made
the points for Condon and Wel
shons and Jost did the star work
for Clem. Umpire A. E. Mac
hey did fine work and Referee
Schroeder did his part exception
ally well. Laughrige's playing
was the feature of the game.
Two other games were played,
one by the High School girls and
the other between the High
School and the Eight grade girls
the latter game resulting in a
victory for the High School.
Between the halves of the diff
erent games, the Wheat City Or
chestra played several selections
to the delight of everyone pres
ent. This organization although
still young play like "old .timers",
and everyone who attends the
dance tonight, although they
may not wish to dance will - be
sure to get their money's worth
in good music.
