Expect, However, There Will
be Llttto Local Log-liiation.
Ucprt'Hontutivo and Mrs. Ellin
arrived in WoHhinRton I). C,
lust week. Mr. Kllm dx;n nut
expect much local legislation this
winter aKido from river and hur
bor appropriations, but is pre
pared to devote himm-lf to the
intercuts of the Columbia river,
lie hopes to secure enough mon
ey to complete the jetty at the
mouth of the river, and has
strong hopes thut other recom

bo carried out. Special effort
will be made to have the Celilo
canal placed under the continuing
contract plan.
Mr. Ellis says there is no hope
for the bill dividing Oregon into
two judiciary districts until there
is a change in the house judiciary
committee which has flatly de
clined even to grant consider
ation of Fulton's bill now before
them.

Albert Vaughn and David
Brown were arrested at Willows
on Tuesday by the Greek section
crew and taken to Arlington
where they were given into the
custody of Marshal Sweetin.
They were given a hearing be
fore Justice Collins, charged
with larceny of a dwelling, and
plead guilty. Justice Collins
placed them each under $500.00
bonds and they were brought to
Condon by Marshal Sweetin and
lodged in the county jail. It
seems that the Greeks discover
ed them in the act of robbing
the house and immediately gave
chase. Brown jumped into the
Columbia and swam almost half
way across before turning back.
While in the water he was shot
at by one of the Greeks.
