HALOWEEN FESTIVITIES.
Christian Endoavor Society
Entertains In Armory Hall.
Hallowe'en, the night when
hobgoblins and the jack 'o knt
era are out in grand parade, was
duty celebrated by the young
folks. Many persons enjoying
quiet moments during the early
hours of the evening were heard
to give vent to tneir fright to
the delight of a bond of would-be -goblins
bearing some hideous
jack o'lanlerns and armed with
the terrifyijig tick-tack. Outside
of a few stale jokes perpetrated
during the fore part of the night,
peaceful quiet reigned ovei
the town during the remain ng
hours.
At the Social.
Hobgoblins and fortvne tellers
were the center of attraction at
the Christian Endeavor social
held in the Armory Hall last
Saturday evening. As the
guests entered the hall they were
led by the pillow-slip arrayed
goblins to the darkest recesses
of the hall where amidst weird
noises and the clanking of chains
two goblin seeresses warned
them to lead better lives in the
future. In another corner the
fortune teller, seated in her cosy
hut of scarlet, read your future
for a very small fee.
The most entertaining features
of the evening were the different
contests the hat trimming for
men was won by G.Seaton Taylor
over seven other contestants; the
pencil sharpening contest for
ladies was won by Miss Lillian
Ranney ; the button hole contest
for men, won by Dr. A. A. Keene
and the nail driving contest for
ladies won by Miss Belle Ranney.
Games were enjoyed by young
and old until a late hour. Re
freshments were served from
different booths.
