Even Condon and Gilliam
County fell into line and added
their "small mite" by a vote
of two to one, to the overwhelm
ing majority given Taf t
The demand of small girls for
the Teddy bear instead of the
old fashioned doll may be only
another manifestation of the
society woman's preference for
a dog to a baby.
The people . of this country
have once more decided to re
main under Republican rule,
firmly believing it means pros
perity for four more years.
William H. Taft, the man wnom
the people have elected to the
Presidency of the United States,
is perhaps better fitted to be
the executive of this country
than any person who has yet re
ceived the honor. His vast ex
perience in the different depart
ments of governmental business
has been wide and he has shown
himself equal to every occasion.
The people have confidence in
Mr. Taft as is shown by the over
whelming vote given in his
favor. Everything now points
to the greatest future and pros
perity for this country and its
people.
On another page the attention
of the farmers of Gilliam county
is called to the meeting to be
held at the court house on next
Tuesday for the purpose of dis
cussing the important matter of
locating and establishing an ex
perimental farm in this county.
The state has decided to carry
on the work provided suitable
land is made available for the
purpose without cost to the state.
A station is bound to be located
in either Sherman or Gilliam
counties. What is this county
willing to do? Do you realize
the importance of such an en
terprise and its results in a few
years? The location of the farm
is left entirely to the state and
your presence and influence may
locate this "dry farming experi
mental station" in your vicinity.
Has he been presented with
that leather medal yet? That
poor "overworked editor," who
has been attempting to run a
newspaper during the past year;
who claims to have done so much
in behalf of the experimental
farm when he first mentioned it
last week and then because it
was neccessary; who hints the
Globe had placed cold water on
the proposition, when in fact, the
Globe's file shows column after
column on the subject; who says
he is giving his readers too much
news for their money, when in
fact, he himself doesn't know a
news item when it stares him in
the face; who has again grasped
his hammer because the Globe's
true worth as a news giver is
being recognized and many a
new subscriber has been gained
during the past year! He and
his big hammer should really be
rewarded!

The Hiifh School was fortunate
enough to havu their picturts
taken last week. Mr. Horner
tackled the job first but was un
able to do much with the small
cameras so Mr. McMorris got his
seven by nine and did the job up
right He says he intends to
send a picture to the rogues
gallery.
Report cards were given out
last week. The system of month
ly examinations in comparison
with the quarterly examinatiom'
is by far the better, as it enables
the paren a to keep more closely
in touch with the work done by
the pupil and also with the
teacher. It would be a wise
idea for the parents to take a
day olT occasion ly and visit the
schools.
